B Family- Holmdel Park Maternity Session

Holmdel Park is one of my favorite places to photograph families so when the B family decided to do their maternity photos there I was so excited. I remember exactly where I was when I first spoke with E on the phone about scheduling maternity portraits. She shared their emotional journey to becoming parents and the way she opened up to me really struck a chord.

I have noticed throughout my life that people feel comfortable in my presence and feel open to sharing some of their more intimate life experiences with me. I have never been very comfortable talking over the phone so the fact that even through the phone E could sense that I am a safe person to share her story with meant a lot to me. Becoming a parent is such a personal and quite frankly scary time in our lives and I want all my clients to feel safe and comfortable in my presence.

This time is about you and your journey and I am here to help you preserve these memories with as little stress to you and your family as possible.

I know I can’t eliminate ALL the stress, but my goal is to ease it. As a former newborn and maternity nurse + a pregnancy and birth junky, I love hearing about a family’s journey into parenthood. I try to be sensitive and not ask too many personal questions when it comes to the creation of your family, but sometimes people will open up and I am so grateful for their vulnerability and their trust. It also helps me with the documentation process. I may be able to notice something that maybe I wouldn’t have if I didn’t know your story.

The more I know about you, the more authentic and personalized your images will be.

So please, if you book a maternity, newborn or family session with me and there are details about your family that you think may be relevant to telling your story through images, tell me!
